YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAM
Building Character Through Play, Teamwork, and Opportunity
Play It Forward is a youth development initiative of the Martinez Foundation focused on creating before- and after-school programs, supporting existing youth sports organizations, and providing sports scholarships so every child has the chance to participate—regardless of financial barriers.
Through partnerships with local elementary schools and community organizations, Play It Forward creates safe, structured environments where kids can grow physically, emotionally, and socially. Sports teach far more than skills on the field—they teach teamwork, discipline, communication, conflict resolution, perseverance, and respect. Kids learn how to win with humility, how to face loss with resilience, and how to push through challenges alongside their teammates.
Play It Forward is about belonging. It’s about community, encouragement, and helping kids build confidence through shared effort and healthy competition. These experiences shape character, strengthen relationships, and give young people tools they carry for life.
This program is powered by donors and volunteers. Support helps fund scholarships, expand programming, and equip teams with the resources they need. Community members can volunteer as mentors or assistants, donate sports equipment and supplies, or give financially to help more kids play, learn, and grow.
